About Me

I am a native of Morgantown, West Virginia and a May 2012 graduate of the Honors College at West Virginia University. While at WVU I earned degrees in international studies (focus on development and environment) and political science. I have been blessed with many travel opportunities that have led to my interest in international development, an area that inspires in me both fascination and skepticism.

Upon graduating, I had the honor of being chosen as a Fulbright Fellow; I will be in Nicaragua from February 2nd to December 2nd, 2013. During this time, I plan to conduct research on cooperative microfinance programs. My research will focus on the utility of microfinance to redistribute not only monetary resources to clients, but also the power to effectively control those resources. I am especially interested in how alternative business models (e.g. cooperatives) can facilitate holistic development. My research methodology draws from the work of researchers active in progressing the concept and utility of community economies
